HomeWhy Mediate?What Can Be Mediated?A Good Divorce?FAQAn Expert's ViewContact a Mediator

Mike’s personal philosophy and approach….

I have extensive experience reaching resolution to family law matters in and out of the court room since the early 90’s.  I have been a licensed attorney practicing exclusively in the field of Family Law since 1993.   I estimate that I have been involved in over 1,500 Family Law matters in my career.

There ARE times when an adversarial and contentious divorce is unavoidable, but this can be the exception.  I do have significant ability and expertise litigating court cases since 1993.  However,  my years of experience has taught me it takes much more skill and talent as an attorney to successfully reach a fair and equitable resolution to a Family Law matter outside of the court room than inside one.

I have seen the good, the ugly, and the uglier.  It is my overwhelming experience that those cases which are litigated through Domestic Relations (Divorce) or Juvenile Court are counter-productive to the FAMILY UNIT.  Litigants may not be husband and wife for much longer, but they will always be Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa after that.

This is the reason I became a certified Family Law mediator in 2004.  My mediation training was obtained by one of the most nationally recognized trainers, Jim Melamed in Eugene, Oregon where the University of Oregon is located.  Families, and especially the children, deserve a respectful and non-destructive division of their family.  I do not care what the situation, division of the family does not have to be ugly or cause collateral damage to the children!  It is possible to offer families a more dignified and respectful termination of their marriage.  Most of the time, a healthy parting of the ways between two unhappy spouses will lead to a healthier family unit; THIS is my ultimate professional goal!

Located in Cincinnati, Ohio I have provided multiple legal services including but not limited to, Family Law mediation, litigation representation, Collaborative representation, and as a Guardian Ad Litem.  I practice family law in Hamilton, Clermont, Warren and Butler Counties, Ohio.  It is my strong opinion that mediation is one of the best ways to bring resolution to family issues in a peaceful, amicable and dignified manner.

To learn more about the mediation process please read further in the tabs located within this website.  If you would like to learn more about the other services I can provide please go to my legal website located at MKAUFMANFAMILYLAW.COM or feel free to email me atKAUFMANFAMILYLAW@FUSE.NET.
